Long time no write

So. I guess many of you wondered if I was ever going to post again. Well, here I am back at work, and I suddenly feel that I have the time to write a quick post. Amazing that I have more time at work than at home with my little Ella Grace.

A quick recap:
Ella Grace Glover was born on June 19, 2010 at 10:30 pm
She weighed 7lbs 5 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long.
The last 6 months have flown by and we are settling in well as a family.
I can't even remember my life before her, and I love her more than I ever imagined possible.

I have lots of photos and videos to post to bring you up to speed. We will do that gradually!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Due Dates are for Suckers

So, our due date is officially this Friday, June 18th, but who would have ever thought that I could make a baby happy for that long. Well, obviously I am a very good hostess because Little Miss Thing will NOT come out. We just thought that on June 2nd (our last post) that we were anxious...joke is on us!

Murphy is having to sleep in her crib until she gets home.

We had a doctor's appointment this afternoon, and looks like my blood pressure is trending up, but we are just watching it at this point. I have no other signs of preeclampsia, so nothing to get worked up about yet. I go back for some labwork on Wednesday, and then on Friday we will re-evaluate this situation that I loving refer to as purgatory. My doctors are such teases with the word induction these days. So no promises just hopes of her making her debut on her own terms. Those are all of the facts for now, so over to you Wilson.

This is over 3 weeks ago. You can imagine what I look like now!

Now its my turn. As the self appointed color analyst for this game I have got the low down on the down low. That's right, I tattle on the waddler and will pay for it later. She is generally uncomfortable, but she trys to make the best of it. She has completely given up on anything that isn't for comfort (i.e. clothes and shoes). I told her last week that she was giving her dress pattern a run for its money and she has responded by "porky pigging it" or "pulling a Wes" (FYI: wearing a shirt with no pants). I have learned that Scalini's is low grade dog food and that trolls work there during the daylight hours. We are anxious at this point but fully comprehend the whole watched pot story (that's everyone else's hint to quit saying "it will happen when it is supposed to happen"). Hopefully the next update will be from the hospital and the process will not take too long. Glover out.

Any Day Now!!

Alrighty peeps! I am ready to go. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday to recheck her size, and they estimated her at 7lbs 10oz. We are still working on a pretty big baby, so I am thinking that she is cooked and needs to make her debut sooner rather than later. She is proving to have different ideas of her own apparantly.

Nothing else new to report really just playing the waiting game. Coming to work these days is brutal and I really wished that I had made last week, my last week. Looks like I am stuck until I go into labor. The waiting is pretty brutal itself though. I am very anxious to meet this little lady and to see her face. Actually, I am beside myself and can hardly control it. I am not the only one. I think that Grampy (Wilson's Dad) is more excited than I am. We are all on edge and very excited. I still feel good (a little sore in the hips) which is a plus. I will keep everyone posted on ANY updates. Hopefully we will have some baby pictures to post soon!!!!

Not so bad....maybe?

Hello there!

As many of you know, the building where I work has a women's center upstairs. Well, my friend Kate up there is an ultrasound technician. She has done many "fun" ultrasounds for me in between my official appointments this entire pregnancy. Well, yesterday, I asked her if she would mind measuring Ella Grace to see if she had continued growing at that blistering rate or if she had cooled it a little.

This morning, I got to see our little angel on the screen once again. I am officially 36 weeks today and she measured in at 36 weeks and 1 day. Her weight was estimated 6lbs 1oz and overall she is in the 40-50th percentile. She still has a big ol' noggin (70th percentile) that she definately gets from her Daddy. Well, I can say that I feel a little better at least for the moment. She is also head down and facing my spine (totally ready to make her debut). I do know that both estimates are probably really really wrong anyway, and probably totally irrelevant. She is as big as she is and we will not know how big that is until she is born. But, you know that I must find something to worry about.

I think that we are hanging in pretty well. I could use a little more sleep at night and a break from this backache, but for the most part I am good. I have big plans to pack my hospital bag this weekend!!! The nursery is set and ready for our little angel to come home. So exciting. We love you all!

Lady Hoss

Well everyone. It seems as though we have a hoss on our hands. Lady Blind Side if you will (that is for you Angie). So my OB seems relatively concerned that I will not be able to physically handle giving birth to Ella Grace. So, we have scheduled another ultrasound on June 1st to reassess her size and then we will go from there. Let's all just hope that she had a growth spurt prior to our last ultrasound and that she will cool it on the gaining for a little bit. If she is deemed "too big" for me to handle, then at that point we will be scheduling a c-section. Not my "ideal" situation, but all we care about is a healthy baby. I just wanted to "update" everyone on our latest doctor's appointment developements. I will keep everyone up to date with any new news. I also hope to figure out how to post some pictures this weekend!

I needed a little nudge!

Well, I see that Wilson has finally grown tired of me saying that I will update the blog tonight, but never doing it. Sorry about that. So for weeks 16 through 33 of the pregnancy, I could not have been happier. I was comfortable, had lots of energy, and was just pure excited. Well starting with week 34 (last Friday). That comfort has been replaced with an aching body (especially back), sleepless nights, and mood swings (poor Wilson). The energy has been zapped, and I feel as though I simply cannot put one foot in front of the other. Lastly, that pure excitement has been replaced with pure terror. I am realizing (slowly) that this baby has to come out somehow some way, and that I play a huge role in that process. I just cannot bring myself to pack that stinking hospital bag either because then I may have to face the fact that I will be going to the hospital and having this baby (and I have seen those videos). Wilson has been very very good to me (and I can only imagine how hard that is right now)! I do know that Little Miss Ella Grace and I cannot coexist in the same body for much longer though. We are playing an interesting game of chicken, and if she doesn't give in soon, then I may have to let her have it. See how dramatic I can be?
She is very very active and she gets the hiccups between 3 and 5 times per day. It looks as if I have an alien in my stomach when she twists and turns, and I do believe that I grabbed a foot the other day up near my ribs. She seems to like to lodge them up under my ribs where I cannot rearrange her. I do know that I am falling more and more in love with her with each day that passes, and I am beside myself to see her precious little face. We are going to have so much fun!!!!
I want to echo Wilson's thank you's for the wonderful showers and gifts. We are truly blessed to have such a generous and loving network of friends and family. Ella Grace has no idea how much she is loved already. You all mean the world to our growing family, and I cannot wait for you to meet our little miracle. I love you!

Party time is over

We went in for a check up on May 4th and were told that she had moved head down. Hopefully she will stay there and we can do this without a c-section. They estimated her weight at 6 lbs and 2 oz at 33 weeks. Dr. Stone then gave us a packet for our OB, just incase we needed to induce her due to size concerns. Katie and I are happy that she is healthy, and Katie hopes she doesn't go over 8 lbs.

Sweet holy Moses the last weeks have been a blur. We have completed the marathon run of showers and are looking forward to a couple of weekends of quiet time. We cannot thank all of the hostesses more for their hard work on all of the showers. This last weekend was the blow out party with ribs, brisket, coleslaw, mac & cheese, fruit, veggies, and cake. Thanks to all the friends who traveled just to say congratulations to us! Ella Grace appreciates all of the presents, and her parents appreciate the stroller. I am getting excited and Katie is growing a little anxious about the birth. We are entering the home stretch!

Childbirth Smildbirth...

I am filling in for Katie on this update and our latest foray into becoming parents lasted for about 9 hours on a Saturday Morning. We were signed up for a childbirthing class and the day ended up being fairly informative. We made it the entire day with only a few of truly memorable moments. The teacher/instructor mixed in tapes of "natural" childbirth with helpful hints about getting through this "wonderful time". I though that it was humorous when the couple to our left had difficulty understanding that certain sounds are made on the inhalation of air and others during exhalation. When you "jack" up this fairly simple process, what do you think the rest of the birth will be like?

After the breathing exercises, the class was "treated" to another 70's style childbirth video (take 70's literally). One baby was born and one of the father-to-be said, "what is all the white stuff on the baby?". The instructor, without missing a beat, says "that stuff that looks like cheese? That ladies and gentlemen is the vernix. It is a waxy substance that keeps your babies from getting all pruny while they are in the womb." He looks at us and says, "really, a food reference was necessary? I am absolutely screwed if I want a pizza for the next six months." Our little corner of parents all laughed.

The instructor also made sure to work in a 15 minute massage time for the class (that is each husband would practice massaging the wife's lower back, shoulders, hands, and/or feet). I am massaging Katie's hands when all of a sudden she says, "why don't you milk them?" Without missing a beat I start milking Katie's fingers as if they are teets on a cow. She looks at me with the "what in the hell are you doing" face and I explain that this is the only type of milking that I know how to do. Needless to say, we get so tickled that massage time is ruined for us.

As massage time is ending, the instructor puts all the mothers-to-be sitting in between the legs of the fathers for some "rub on the belly" time. We are rubbing away until you start to hear making out sounds. The couple, who had trouble with their breathing exercises, start making out in the middle of class. Katie turns to me and says, "do you hear that?" I say no, I see that and I am speechless. I know that we are childbirth class virgins but that isn't normal.

On another note, the closet has been finished and the room is ready for Ella Grace. We are 31 weeks on Friday and are starting to really get excited about her arrival. Katie and I are just assuming that Murphy is as ready for this as we are pretending to be. Until next time..

Are we ready????

Wow, I just cannot believe that we are 26 weeks pregnant with our little angel, Ella Grace. Wilson and I decided that we would love to share all of our big news and funny stories with everyone through this wonderful blog. The nursery is coming along and we will hopefully have all of her furniture by this weekend. Then we will really be on our way! She is really full of it lately with her roundhouse kicks and numerous punches. She is really starting to take after her mother.

We will post pictures soon! I know that this post is really dull, but I really wanted to see what it looked like on the site. I promise that the next one will be better!!!!
